The climatic spa of the village of Schonach is located within the tourist region Black Forest in the North-West of the "Schwarzwald-Baar-District". Schonach is well-known as a center of winter sports. Schonach is home of the Olympic champions Georg Rettich, Hans-Peter Pohl, Hansjörg Jäkle and Alexander Herr. In early January each year the world elite meets for the competitions around the Black Forest Cup FIS World Cup Nordic Combined.
The Langenwald ski-jump with a hill size of 106 meters was opened after reconstruction on 05/01/2011. In Schonach are the lifts "Winterberg" (length 350 m - temporarily with floodlight) and "Rohrhardsberg" (length 750) for alpine skiing as well as numerous cross-country ski runs with a total length of about 53.5 km. The long distance ski run "Schonach-Belchen" is the longest ski trail in the Black Forest.
From spring to autumn you can explore the surrounding countryside by foot (hiking, Nordic walking) or by bike (mountain-bike and e-bike hire possible in the Bike Ranch in Schonach or at the Tourist Information in Schönwald). Several theme trails have been established. The shell stone path runs close to the Terrace Park. In the nature adventure region "Rohrhardsberg" especially children and young people can make great experiences. Schonach is located at the European long-distance hiking trail "E1". In Schonach and surrounding area about 400 km mountain bike trails are established.
Schonach is located at the Deutsche Uhrenstraße - German clock route and is the native place of the cuckoo clock. Most of the Black Forest cuckoo clocks are still manufactured here today. Guided workshop visits are offered. In Schonach you will find the first world's largest cuckoo clock. The Dold family is looking forward to your visit.

Also worth seeing is the museum "Heimatstube" at the tourist information (Haus des Gastes) and the spa gardens with free Minigolf (for holiday guests)
